Dermoscopy CME module
Benign neoplasms I: DF, lentigo, & SK
Presented by Richard Usatine, MD
Review of dermoscopy for common benign lesions: dermatofibroma, seborrheic keratosis, and solar lentigo. Key clues include DF dimple sign with central white/pink scar-like area; SK milia-like cysts, comedo-like openings, fissures/ridges; solar lentigo fingerprint network and moth-eaten borders. Emphasizes polarization/pressure techniques, slide maneuver, and distinguishing SK from melanoma with blue-white veil.

Learning objectives
After completing this module, you should be able to:
- Identify the features associated with melanocytic and non-melanocytic malignancies and identify the features to help differentiate them from benign lesions.
- Outline a management approach for lesions, based on their clinical and dermoscopic morphology.
- Summarize the pivotal role of Dermoscopy as the gateway not only into improved diagnostic accuracy but also improvements in management, treatment, and appropriate use of ancillary tests/devices such as digital monitoring, reflectance confocal microscopy, and gene expression profiling.
This faculty-led module is part of the American Dermoscopy Certificate Program. Enrolled members watch the full lecture and claim CME credit on completion.
