A defined path through the program

Begin with a baseline self-assessment, work through the required online modules, apply the curriculum in the interactive capstone, and finish with the program's final assessment.

Faculty video instruction forms the core of each module. Available study materials may include slides, clinical pearls, quizzes, audio summaries, and an AI study assistant tied to the lecture transcript.

Use the baseline results to guide your review as you move through the modules. Available slides, pearls, audio summaries, and transcript-linked study support help you return to a topic before the capstone or final assessment.

The AI assistant is a study aid and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated. Do not enter protected health information or use it to evaluate a real patient or make a patient-specific decision.

The course is intended for professional education. It does not provide patient-specific medical advice or replace your independent clinical judgment.

How to earn the American Dermoscopy Certificate

The certificate is earned through a required sequence of education and assessment.

  1. 1. Complete the baseline self-assessment

Begin with a 50-question self-assessment. Completion is required, but the score is not pass/fail and does not determine whether you earn the certificate. Use the results to identify topics to revisit.

  2. 2. Complete all 25 required modules

Complete every required module and its program completion requirements. The capstone opens after the required curriculum is complete.

  3. 3. Complete the 21-case capstone

The case video pauses before each reveal so you can consider the question, choose a response if you wish, and compare your thinking with the room's results and faculty explanation. Individual case responses are not scored. Complete the capstone requirements before the final assessment opens.

  4. 4. Pass the final assessment

Answer 50 questions and score at least 70% to pass. You may submit the final assessment up to 2 times. It is untimed, your answers save as you go, and a submitted assessment is final. Set aside at least 90 minutes and plan to finish in one sitting.

  5. 5. Earn the certificate

Complete the required curriculum and capstone and pass the final assessment to earn the American Dermoscopy Certificate.

Dermoscopy CME and continuing education

Up to 15.5 credit hours are available across eligible program activities. Credit is claimed activity by activity after completing the applicable learning activity, required assessment, and evaluation.

Each eligible activity displays its accreditation statement, credit designation, credit amount, and other applicable requirements. Availability and acceptance depend on the activity, your profession, and the rules of the relevant licensing board, certifying body, or employer.

Earning the American Dermoscopy Certificate does not itself award CME or continuing-education credit. Activity-level CME and continuing-education certificates remain separate from the program certificate.

What the American Dermoscopy Certificate means

The American Dermoscopy Certificate records successful completion of the program's required education and final assessment. You may state that you earned the certificate or completed the American Dermoscopy Certificate Program. The award does not make you a "Certified Dermoscopist," certify you in dermoscopy, or grant a professional designation.

The American Dermoscopy Certificate documents successful completion of ADCP's educational and assessment requirements. It does not confer medical licensure, board certification, specialty certification, or expanded scope of practice.

The certificate does not expire. ADCP does not operate a recertification, discipline, or public professional-status verification program for the award. Each certificate has an individual certificate ID, but that ID does not represent professional certification or independently validated clinical competence.
