Dermoscopy CME module
Benign neoplasms IV: LPLK
Presented by Margaret Oliviero-Rabinovitz, NP
Overview of dermoscopic diagnosis of lichen planus–like keratosis, a regressing lentigo or seborrheic keratosis that often mimics melanoma. Typical patterns: diffuse gray dots/granules; gray dots with pigment clumps; localized granularity. On sun-damaged skin, distinguish from lentigo maligna’s diffuse granularity and networks. Nonpigmented cases show pink-white, orange-yellow hues. Biopsy if uncertain.

Learning objectives
After completing this module, you should be able to:
- Identify the features associated with melanocytic and non-melanocytic malignancies and identify the features to help differentiate them from benign lesions.
- Outline a management approach for lesions, based on their clinical and dermoscopic morphology.
- Summarize the pivotal role of Dermoscopy as the gateway not only into improved diagnostic accuracy but also improvements in management, treatment, and appropriate use of ancillary tests/devices such as digital monitoring, reflectance confocal microscopy, and gene expression profiling.
This faculty-led module is part of the American Dermoscopy Certificate Program. Enrolled members watch the full lecture and claim CME credit on completion.
