Dermoscopy CME module

Entodermoscopy

Presented by Christian Navarrete, MD

Talk reviews entodermoscopy—using the dermatoscope to diagnose infections and infestations. Key pearls: scabies delta sign and UV fluorescence; identification of crab lice, ticks, tungiasis, and tinea nigra; spider eye-pattern triads for suspected loxoscelism; recognition of gamasoidosis. Dermoscopy improves accuracy, reduces unnecessary biopsies, and aids foreign-body detection and minor procedures care.

Learning objectives

After completing this module, you should be able to:

  • Outline a logical framework for evaluating cutaneous lesions, nail lesions, hair disorders, rashes, and infestations.
  • Outline a management approach for lesions, based on their clinical and dermoscopic morphology.
  • Summarize the pivotal role of Dermoscopy as the gateway not only into improved diagnostic accuracy but also improvements in management, treatment, and appropriate use of ancillary tests/devices such as digital monitoring, reflectance confocal microscopy, and gene expression profiling.

This faculty-led module is part of the American Dermoscopy Certificate Program. Enrolled members watch the full lecture and claim CME credit on completion.
